Nominee for foreign minister Petr Macinka meets with President Pavel to discuss policy continuity
Petr Macinka, the Motorists’ nominee for foreign minister, met with President Petr Pavel on Thursday to discuss coordination and continuity in foreign policy and Czechia’s position in the EU. Speaking to journalists afterward, Macinka said he expects to see consensus between the government and president on key foreign policy matters in the future.
They also addressed Ukraine and opportunities for Czech businesses, though the so-called “munition initiative” was not mentioned. Macinka stressed that the future government recognizes Czechia’s stance as hostile to Russia.
The talks touched upon the potential appointment of Motorists’ honorary president Filip Turek as environment minister, which President Pavel called unlikely.
