Fifty-seven injured in train collision in South Bohemia
Fifty-seven people are reported to have been injured in a train collision in the South Bohemian region early on Thursday morning. The accident happened shortly after 6am when an express train going from České Budějovice to Plzeň colided with a local service train on the line between Zliv and Dívčice, the CTK news agency reported. Preliminary damages are estimated at 150 million koruna. After eight hours, train service was restored, and shortly before 3 p.m. trains began passing the accident site at reduced speed. Based on the number of injuries, today’s railway accident is among the most serious in the country in the past five years.
