Lidice art collection receives record donation, exhibition set for next year
Lidice’s art collection has received 65 works from Turkish-British collector Hüma Kabakci, the largest donation to date, valued at over CZK 10 million. Kabakci and Lidice Memorial director Eduard Stehlík signed the donation agreement on Thursday.
The pieces, mainly paintings and some objects by Turkish-speaking artists, will arrive at the turn of the year, and will be exhibited in May or June.
The Lidice collection, managed by the Lidice Memorial under the Ministry of Culture, focuses on contemporary art and was founded in the 1960s by British doctor and politician Barnett Stross.
