Die Welt: Czechia could serve as model for integrating Ukrainian refugees

The Czech Republic could serve as an example for Germany in how to successfully integrate Ukrainian refugees, writes the leading German daily Die Welt. The paper praised the country for handling the arrival of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians “with remarkable skill.”

According to Die Welt, the reasons behind this success include the linguistic proximity between Czech and Ukrainian and the fact that a large Ukrainian community had already been established in the country before Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, providing a ready-made support network for newcomers. The report also noted that relatively modest state financial aid, combined with high living costs comparable to those in Germany, encouraged refugees to integrate quickly into the labor market.
