National football coach Ivan Hašek sacked over Faroe Islands debacle

According to media reports, the Executive Committee of the Czech Football Association (FAČR) has dismissed national team coach Ivan Hašek. The committee met to address Hašek’s future following the national team’s shocking 1–2 defeat to the Faroe Islands in Sunday’s World Cup qualifier. Reports say that members voted remotely via email to remove the 62-year-old coach, who took charge of the team in January last year.
