Czech government envoy for Ukraine reconstruction to step down

Government envoy for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, Tomáš Kopečný, plans to resign at the end of the year, Seznam Zprávy reported. He cited limits to what can be achieved on behalf of the state as his reason for leaving. A former deputy defence minister, Kopečný has served in the post since January 2023, overseeing Czech support for rebuilding war-torn Ukraine and connecting Czech firms and institutions with Ukrainian partners. He co-authored the Czech munitions initiative, which has drawn criticism from representatives of the emerging governing coalition of ANO, SPD, and the Motorists’ party.
