Prague boosts public transport cleaning amid Hepatitis A surge

Prague will step up regular cleaning of public transport vehicles and stations in response to a growing number of hepatitis A cases, the city’s transport company (DPP) said. It plans to increase the concentration of disinfectants during cleaning and introduce extra sanitation shifts at busy metro stations.

An information campaign is also being launched to promote prevention, with leaflets providing health advice to be displayed in trams and at metro entrances. City officials say the goal is both to reduce the risk of infection and to reassure passengers that public transport remains safe.

Since the start of the year, almost 700 hepatitis A cases have been reported in the Czech capital, including 75 in the past week alone.
