Czech Embassy in Moscow vandalized with graffiti
The building of the Czech Embassy in Moscow has been defaced with vulgar drawings and slogans written in Czech. Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský said on X that Ambassador Daniel Koštoval will personally deliver a protest note to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Czech-Russian relations have been at a freezing point for years, largely due to Russia’s war in Ukraine and similar incidents targeting diplomatic missions are not unusual. In 2020, after the removal of a statue of Soviet Marshal Ivan Konev in Prague, activists protesting outside the Czech Embassy in Moscow hung a banner reading Stop Fascism and threw smoke grenades into the compound.
In Prague, demonstrators have in the past splashed the Russian Embassy with red paint symbolizing blood over Moscow’s aggression in Ukraine.
