Czech authorities investigating fake TikTok accounts ahead of elections

Czech authorities are examining the activity of hundreds of fake accounts on TikTok that may be attempting to influence the country’s upcoming parliamentary elections, the news site Deník N reported.

According to Deník N, the accounts spread pro-Russian content critical of the EU and NATO, defending Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and promoting parties such as SPD and Stačilo!, which oppose Czech membership in the EU and  NATO.

The Telecommunications Office (ČTÚ) has confirmed that it is investigating the accounts. While the Office is not addressing the content itself, it is focusing on whether the accounts are automated bots.
