Slovak ambassador protests Czech minister’s participation in Bratislava demonstration

The Slovak ambassador to the Czech Republic, Martin Muránsky, on Thursday lodged a protest at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs over Czech Interior Minister Vít Rakušan’s participation in Tuesday’s anti-government demonstration in Bratislava. He argued that such actions do not contribute to constructive Slovak-Czech dialogue. The rally, called by opposition parties, was held in protest against Prime Minister Robert Fico’s new consolidation package. The ministry countered that Rakušan’s presence at the demonstration had been his own private initiative.
