Opposition leader Andrej Babiš attacked at campaign rally

Andrej Babiš, leader of the strongest opposition party ANO, was attacked during a campaign rally in  Dobrá, Moravia-Silesia, on Monday afternoon, the Czech News Agency reported. According to ANO MP Aleš Juchelka, who was present at the incident, a man in the crowd approached Babiš and started hitting him on the head and back with a crutch. Police immediately detained the assailant and provisionally classified the act as disorderly conduct. A woman injured in the incident also received medical treatment, police said on X. Babiš was taken to hospital for a CT scan.

Both government and opposition politicians condemned the attack. ANO stated that it was the result of a “campaign of hatred.”
