Czech government to decide on Leopard 2A8 tank purchase worth CZK 34 billion

The government is set to discuss the purchase of Leopard 2A8 tanks on Wednesday. Cabinet approval is necessary before the contract can be signed.

In the first phase, Czechia plans to acquire 44 command and combat tanks. The Ministry of Defence approved the order in mid-August. Including modifications to meet the needs of the Czech Army, the cost will reach 34.25 billion crowns with VAT. An additional five billion crowns will be set aside as a reserve for inflation and currency fluctuations.

The first Leopard 2A8 tanks should arrive in 2028, with deliveries continuing until 2031.
