Farewell to Zdena Salivarová in Toronto, remains to be repatriated to Czechia

The farewell ceremony for Czech writer Zdena Salivarová will take place in a private circle next Tuesday in Toronto, where she passed away on Monday at the age of 91. Salivarová, co-founder of the exiled publishing house Sixty-Eight Publishers, will later be laid to rest in Czechia alongside her husband, writer Josef Škvorecký.

According to Czech Consul Šárka Ponroy Vamberová, discussions are ongoing with Salivarová’s niece Zuzana Novotná and the town of Náchod, which seeks to rebury both authors in their homeland. She expressed hope that the necessary paperwork could be completed within two months.
