One in ten Czech children show signs of digital media addiction, study finds

One in ten Czech children aged 11 to 14 shows signs of digital media addiction, according to a new study by Charles University’s Faculty of Education. The research also found that around half a million parents are either experiencing clinical symptoms of burnout or are at serious risk, often linked to their children’s excessive screen use.

The survey, conducted among more than 2,400 parents of children under 18, revealed that while most kids use digital media in a balanced way, some make it their main leisure activity, neglecting other interests and responsibilities.

To support both parents and children, experts from Charles University’s First Faculty of Medicine are developing an online support platform with professional advice and resources.
