Government to consider expanding housing support

The Czech government will discuss a proposal to raise the income threshold for assistance under the Housing Support Act, the ČTK news agency reported. The limit would rise from the current 1.43 times the subsistence minimum to 1.6 times. The Ministry for Regional Development says this would make aid accessible to more people in unsuitable housing, working households, pensioners with incomes above 10,000 crowns, and recipients of third-degree disability pensions. According to the explanatory report, the current threshold excludes up to a third of people in housing need.
