Czechs support foreigners staying in the country, but only under certain conditions

Most Czechs support allowing foreigners to stay long-term in the country, but only under certain conditions. According to a survey by the Public Opinion Research Center of the Czech Academy of Sciences, 87% of respondents agreed with conditional stays, while just 7% would welcome foreigners without restrictions.

Two in five people believe there are already too many foreigners in Czechia, and nearly half would not support the right to stay for just anyone who applies. Only 5% favor a complete ban on long-term residence.

Those with only basic or non-graduate secondary education were more likely to oppose long-term stays. Meanwhile, people who personally know foreigners living in Czechia—54% of respondents—tended to support more open policies.
