Lipavský: Support for Ukraine's EU accession is not blank check for all government actions

Ukraine belongs to Europe and its citizens have Czech support, but this has never been and will never be a blank cheque for any government actions, Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský stated on Wednesday on the X network. The statement comes in regards to the Ukrainian law that targets anti-corruption bodies. On Tuesday, the Ukrainian parliament approved the law, which President Volodymyr Zelensky signed, according to which the anti-corruption agency NABU and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office will be subordinate to the Prosecutor General.

Lipavský also spoke about the matter with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha‎ on Wednesday. The passage of the law, which was also criticised by the European Union, has sparked the largest public protests in Ukrainian cities since February 2022, when Russia invaded the country.
