Czechia records hottest day of the year so far
Czechia recorded its hottest day of the year so far on Thursday, with the highest temperatures reported in South Moravia. The peak temperature, 35.8°C, was measured in Lednice.
According to the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute, the 35-degree threshold for a so-called “supertropical day” was reached at six weather stations with at least 30 years of data.Temperature records for June 26 were broken at one in ten of these long-term monitoring stations.
The heatwave is expected to be interrupted by thunderstorms, followed by a slight drop in temperatures on Friday. However, as the first holiday weekend begins, temperatures are forecast to rise again, potentially exceeding 35°C next week.
