Czech foreign minister speaks with Israeli counterpart amid escalating conflict

Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský spoke by phone on Friday night with his Israeli counterpart Gideon Saar, who briefed him on the situation in the region. Lipavský expressed understanding for Israel’s security concerns and said they would remain in contact.

The call came amid major military escalation. Israel launched what appears to be its largest strike against Iran since the 1980s, targeting nuclear facilities, ballistic missile sites, and scientists allegedly working on nuclear weapons.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the attacks aimed to prevent Iran from acquiring an atomic bomb. The Israeli army confirmed that strikes inside Iran continued into the evening. In response, Iran fired a barrage of rockets at Israel.
