Thousands of fawns killed during mowing season

Thousands of young deer are killed by machinery each year during the mowing and harvesting season, according to animal rights activists. They say cooperation between farmers and hunters in protecting young deer, who often venture into fields and meadows for food and are maimed or killed by machinery, is inadequate. Due to poor communication, inappropriate practices, and a lack of subsidies for detection technologies, up to 60,000 fawns are killed annually in the Czech Republic as a result of mowing, the animal rights’ group claims. Animal rights activists use drones to locate and protect wild animals in fields and meadows, but this effort can only save a fraction of them.
