Soldiers will see increase in salaries from July

Soldiers will receive an increase in pay rates and housing allowances starting 1 July, under a set of regulations approved by the government on Wednesday. The coalition parties agreed on the form of the salary increase for soldiers, police officers, and firefighters at a cabinet meeting last week. Pay rates for lower-ranking soldiers will rise by 7.5 percent from July, while those in higher ranks will see a 5 percent increase. The same pay rise will take effect again on 1 January next year.
