President Pavel: Government’s fall would only destabilize the country

President Petr Pavel, who is attending a summit of the B9 and Nordic countries in Vilnius, said the government's resignation would not benefit the state in the current situation. Speaking to reporters, Mr. Pavel said that while the bitcoin transaction must be thoroughly investigated, he does not think that it would make sense for the cabinet to resign four months ahead of the planned general elections. Such a move, he said would only destabilise the entire  political scene.

The president said he would act on the prime minister's proposal to dismiss Minister Blažek, adding that he would speak with the prime minister over the phone on Monday evening to discuss the matter.
