Chritian Democratic Party leader: State should return disputed bitcoins

The state should return the proceeds from the disputed bitcoins, which were donated to the Czech Justice Ministry by a man convicted of drug trafficking embezzlement, and illegal possession of weapons, the leader of the Christian Democratic Party Marek Výborný said on Monday. He said he would recommend the move to the cabinet on Wednesday when ministers are due to discuss the bitcoin scandal that led to the resignation of Justice Minister Pavel Blažek and has shaken the government in its foundations.

Blažek claimed that there was nothing wrong with accepting the donation and argued that there was no proof that the money had come from illegal transactions. The opposition parties have called a special session of the lower house to debate the matter and are demanding the resignation of the Fiala government.
