Nearly half of young Czechs use nicotine, study finds
Nearly half of young Czechs used nicotine products last year, compared to one-third of the general population, according to a survey by the National Institute of Public Health released on Friday. The use of e-cigarettes and nicotine pouches has surged, with the number of users tripling over the past five years. More than a quarter of young people smoke traditional cigarettes at least once a month.
The study also found that nearly one in seven Czechs drank alcohol daily or every other day, while over 40% consumed alcohol at least once a week. Experts warn that the tobacco industry targets youth through flavoured products, appealing designs and misleading marketing.
