Khamoro festival of Romany culture underway in Prague

The 27th festival of Romany culture Khamoro, the largest event of its kind in the world, kicked off in Prague on Sunday. In the course of this week, it will offer concerts of Romany music, exhibitions, film screenings and public debates. This year’s edition will focus on the problem of domestic violence in the Roma community. The festival is traditionally attended by Romanies from Slovakia, Greece, Spain, Hungary, France and Serbia. The week-long series of events will culminate with a parade of Romany dancers and musicians through the center of the metropolis. The festival traditionally attracts around  10,000 visitors.
