Archbishop of Olomouc: Apologies in order for sexual abuse, no reason for compensation

Josef Nuzík, the new head of the Czech Bishops' Conference and Archbishop of Olomouc has publicly apologized to the victims of sexual abuse, but says he sees no reason for mass compensation. In an interview for Novinky.cz, Nuzík said he deeply regrets that cases of abuse have occurred, but he does not think that financial compensation across the board would solve the problem. On the other hand, he said the Church could contribute to or cover the cost of therapy for those who need it, so that the victims can start a new life and not live in pain forever. Nuzík said this has already happened in many cases.
