Police detain 70 people over fraudulent investment platforms from Ukraine
Czech and Ukrainian police officers have arrested 70 people from a criminal group that, according to authorities, created and operated fraudulent investment platforms. Four of the main organisers are in custody and face up to 12 years in prison or the forfeiture of assets if found guilty. The group caused damages of at least nine million crowns in the Czech Republic, with the total damage across the European Union estimated by investigators to be in the millions of euros.
Břetislav Brejcha, head of the National Centre for Counter-Terrorism, Extremism and Cybercrime, announced the information in a press release.
