Prague 4 proposes different names for future metro D line stations

The Prague 4 town hall is demanding that the capital city choose the definitive names for the stations of the future metro D line, and has stated that it does not like some of the ones currently in use. This was reported by the spokesman for the municipality, Aleš Berný.

The city has been working with the station names Olbrachtova, Nádraží Krč, Nemocnice Krč, Nové Dvory, Libuš, Písnice and Depo Písnice for a long time. However, the municipality of Prague 4 does not like Olbrachtova, for one example; Ivan Olbracht was "a prominent writer, but also a controversial and very active politician,” said councilor Jaroslav Míth. Spokesman Berný says that the town-hall management generally prefers topographic names, preferably single-word names such as Ryšánka, Lhotka or Nusle.

The Prague Public Transport Company has been building the first section of the D line from Pankrác to Olbrachtova since 2022. Construction of the connecting section from Olbrachtova to Nové Dvory was supposed to have begun, but due to delays caused by objections from the anti-monopoly office, preparations have been delayed.
