Dozens protest against Křivoklátsko National Park proposal

About 170 people protested this morning in the village of Roztoky, west of Prague, against the planned Křivoklátsko National Park. The protest was led by a local union of nearly 30 municipalities.

Residents are concerned about vague restrictions in the proposal, including possible future limits on movement and a spike in tourism. They also criticize what they see as a rushed approval process.

A new petition with over 3,300 signatures was recently sent to the Senate, following an earlier one signed by more than 11,000 people. Union chair and Karlova Ves mayor Iveta Kohoutová says they’ll keep pushing for a public hearing, warning the park could do lasting damage to the region.
