PM Fiala: Success of Czechia depends on how entire EU changes

The success of Czechia depends on how all Europe changes and how it responds to current international challenges, Prime Minister Petr Fiala said at Tuesday’s ‘Czechia at the Crossroads III’ conference. In his view, the country is currently being held back by excessive regulation. The prime minister stressed the need for a unified and pragmatic EU approach to American tariffs, as a trade war would harm all parties.

According to Mr. Fiala, the EU's main priority for the future is security, including solving the matter of illegal migration. Competitiveness, prosperity and deregulation are also primary topics. He sees Europe's major disadvantage as being energy prices; “we are not moving forward quickly enough here, I am not satisfied with the latest proposals of the European Commission," he added.
