Lehečka withdraws from Munich tennis tournament

Jiří Lehečka has withdrawn from the Bavarian International Tennis Championships in Munich, where he was supposed to play the first round match on Tuesday as the seventh seed. He did not play Italian Luciano Darderi for reasons that have not yet been specified. His place on the court was taken by Australian Christopher O'Connell, who had previously failed to qualify in the Bavarian capital.

Mr. Lehečka trained on Munich clay with another Davis Cup representative and current Czech number two Jakub Menšík on Monday. However, only the winner of the March Masters in Miami appeared on the competition court at the BMW Open on Tuesday, contrary to the plan. In his first start after his career-defining success at the end of March, the sixth seed Menšík played a first round single match with German tennis player Yannick Hanfmann.
