PAQ Research: Segregation of Roma children in Czech schools continues

According to PAQ Research, Czechia is slow in addressing the problem of segregation of Romany children in Czech primary schools. The organization says there are 78 schools in the Czech Republic where more than half of the pupils are Romanies. Most of them are located in the Ústí nad Labem and Moravia and Silesia regions. According to PAQ Research, there are even seven schools in Moravia and Silesia that have 90 % or more Romany pupils. On average, about 2.4 percent of children in Czechia attend special schools, but in the Roma minority 10 percent of all children end up in them. In the Zlín Region, where the situation is the worst, about a quarter of all Romany children attend special schools, PAQ Research says. According to the organization, the situation has not improved in the past decade.
