St. Vitus Cathedral to get new pipe organ

The first consignment of wooden pipes for a new organ for St. Vitus Cathedral at Prague Castle arrived at the weekend, the St. Vitus Organ Foundation informed on its website. The remaining parts of the organ will be gradually brought from the workshop of German organ builder Gerhard Grenzing in El Paipol near Barcelona.

The actual construction should take several months, and according to earlier information, and the new pipe organ will be blessed in a special ceremony on the feast of St. Vitus on June 15, 2026 .  The new organ is being financed from a national collection, announced ten years ago, which has so far raised about CZK 106.65 million from people and companies. The sum should cover 96 percent of the expected costs.
