Czechia bans animal imports from Hungary and Slovakia over foot-and-mouth disease

Czechia has banned animal imports from Hungary and Slovakia due to the outbreak of the highly infectious foot-and-mouth disease in these countries. The ban, which went into effect at midnight on Tuesday, also applies to animal products. The measures mainly affect sheep, goats, pigs and cattle. According to the Agriculture Ministry the ban will be reviewed in 21 days, and may remain in place for longer should the situation worsen.
