STEM election model: ANO is strongest since start of year, approaching parliamentary majority
The ANO movement would win the parliamentary elections, if held at the turn of February and March, with 35.6% of the vote, occupying ninety-three seats in the two-hundred-member Chamber of Deputies, according to the results of the STEM agency's election model for CNN Prima News television published today. This is the best result for ANO since the beginning of this year, close to a parliamentary majority. ANO has significant support among citizens without a high-school diploma and people over 60. However, it does not fall flat with any socio-demographic group, the survey found, and the opposition movement can also enjoy a wide-spread voter base across all regions of the country.
17.1% of voters would now vote for the ruling coalition, Spolu, which comprises the Civic Democrats, Christian Democrats and TOP 09 parties. According to the model, the Mayors and Independents, the Freedom and Direct Democracy party (SPD), the Pirates and the Stačilo! coalition would also enter the Chamber of Deputies. The Motorists would not be represented.
The Mayors and Independents would finish third in the election, with 10.9% of voters voting for them. The SPD would receive 7.5% of the vote, which is the weakest result for the party since the beginning of this year. The research for the election model was conducted from February 14th to March 4th. 1,579 respondents participated. The expected voter turnout is 58%.
