President Trump angered Czechs who sent record amounts of aid to Ukraine

The heated meeting on Friday at the White House between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sparked increased interest in financial aid to Ukraine in Czechia. "As Trump creates public pressure, some people in the Czech Republic are responding by making donations," Martin Ondráček of the Gift for Putin collection told Czech Radio.

Donations to the Gift for Putin, Memory of the Nation, People in Need, and Team 4 Ukraine collections have surged since the meeting. "We typically collect between CZK 220,000 and 270,000 per day, with Fridays and weekends being slower. On Friday, I checked when Zelensky arrived at the White House, and it was at CZK 199,000. After CT24 TV aired footage of their meeting, it took just 40 minutes for donations to reach a million. That means CZK 800,000 came in within 40 minutes, and the pace continued. By the end of Friday, we had almost three million crowns," Martin Ondráček from the Gift for Putin collection told Czech Radio.
