Czech Republic leads EU in trust for nuclear energy, survey finds

Czechia has the highest trust in nuclear energy in the EU, with 77 percent of Czechs believing it will positively impact the future, suggests a newly released Eurobarometer survey.

The survey, conducted last autumn, found that 29 percent of Czechs see nuclear energy as very positive for the country’s technological and energy development, with 48 percent holding a somewhat positive view. According to CEZ spokesman Ladislav Kříž, Czech support for nuclear energy has been the highest in the EU for nearly 25 years, since the Temelín plant began operating.

Other countries showing strong support include Finland, Poland and Turkey. On the other hand, Austria showed the most concern, with 67 percent expressing negative views, while Greece and Germany also displayed some distrust. Overall, positive attitudes toward nuclear power outweighed negative ones across the EU.
