Prague’s Museum of Decorative Arts to mark 140th anniversary with special exhibitions

The Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague will celebrate its 140th anniversary with major exhibitions, including a retrospective of Fred Kramer, a leading Czechoslovak advertising photographer in the 1950s and 60s, known for using colour photography.

Other highlights will include an exhibition of textile printed patterns from 1920 to 1990, and a showcase of Josef Sudek's photographs of Prague's outskirts. The museum will also take part in the 24th Triennale in Milan, focusing on inequality, with the Czech exhibit addressing housing issues and homelessness in Prague.

The museum's founding charter was signed on February 7, 1885. It has been located in its historic building right by the Old Jewish Cemetery since 1900.
