Pro-European sentiment grows among Czechs, despite domestic scepticism, says STEM survey
Czechs’ attitudes towards the European Union have improved, with pro-European sentiment reaching its highest levels in years, according to a new STEM survey. Despite this, Czechs remain sceptical about domestic developments.
The survey shows that 51 percent of Czechs are satisfied with the country’s EU membership, and three-fifths would vote to remain in the union in a referendum—the highest since 2019. Support for adopting the euro rose to 25%, the highest in 11 years.
Additionally, significantly more Czechs feel European than express sympathy for the EU. In the latest survey, 72% identified as European, the same as in 2021. Support for the euro, though still low, has steadily increased, rising by four points year-on-year to 25%.
