ANO parliamentary group approves submission of motion to repeal changes in pension system

The parliamentary group of the opposition ANO party has unanimously approved the submission to the Constitutional Court of a motion to repeal changes in the pension system, which was announced after Tuesday’s meeting of the group by its chairwoman Alena Schillerová. The party’s experts have analysed possible unconstitutional aspects of the government's pension reform and the procedure for its adoption. "Our experts will now prepare a complaint and we will inform you about its submission," said Schillerová.

The government’s amendment, which, due to the deficit of the pension system, gradually increases the retirement age by two years to 67 and slightly reduces newly granted pensions, was announced in December last year. The individual provisions of this pension reform will come into effect gradually until 2027, although ANO and other opposition parties promise to repeal a significant part of the reform if they come to power after the 2025 parliamentary elections.
