Pirates chairman Hřib accepts nomination as party’s national election leader

The chairman of the opposition Pirates party and first deputy mayor of Prague, Zdeněk Hřib, has accepted the nomination as the party's national leader for the 2025 parliamentary elections, according to a statement on the party's online forum. After his recent election as chairman in November 2024, Hřib stated that did not intend to run for the Chamber of Deputies, and wanted to focus on politics in the capital.

The Pirates will vote for the election leader in mid-February at a meeting of the national forum in Zlín. Mr. Hřib took on the position of party chair after the entire leadership, including long-time chairman Ivan Bartoš, resigned due to unsuccessful regional elections in September.
