Minister for European Affairs: EU enlargement crucial for security of the alliance

It is essential to continue the enlargement process of the EU in order to ensure the security and stability of the European Union, Czech European Affairs Minister Martin Dvořák said at the opening of a Prague conference titled 20 Years of Creating Europe: New Challenges and Opportunities. According to the minister, the Russian invasion of Ukraine or the current situation in Georgia clearly indicates that if the EU does not strengthen its support for candidate countries in time, the potential vacuum will be filled by Russia and other foreign influences.
