Prague’s Industrial Palace clock tower reinstalled after major repairs
Workers have reinstalled the 26-tonne clock tower structure on top of the central section of the Industrial Palace at Prague’s Exhibition Grounds. The structure will now be welded to the building, and decorative elements, including the clock, will be reattached.
Part of the restoration is set to be completed by the end of this year, with the remainder expected by 2025, according to Prague City Councillor Adam Zábranský. The total cost is projected to exceed CZK 3 billion.
The clock tower had sustained severe damage in a fire that destroyed part of the palace on October 16, 2008. The restoration of the Industrial Palace began in February 2022 and was initially planned to finish by 2025, but unforeseen complications have delayed completion until 2026.
