International Engineering Fair in Brno gets presidential visit

The International Engineering Fair in Brno

The International Engineering Fair has got underway this week in Brno, running from Tuesday 8th to Friday 11th. The fair, which is the most important of its kind in Central Europe, enjoyed a visit by President Petr Pavel, part of a current official trip to various sites in Moravia.

The 65th edition of the International Engineering Fair is taking placing at the Brno Exhibition Centre, where visitors can see and learn about new industrial solutions and production processes. An important topic this year is the digitisation of industry; the Digital Factory 2.0 project will demonstrate ways towards more efficient and intelligent production. Energy conservation in manufacturing and business is another point of interest, along with facilitating the connection of Czech companies with Ukrainian partners, as part of the Contact Ukraine project.

President Petr Pavel paid a visit to the fair on its second day, and met with industry representatives. The visit included a chance to see a star exhibit: a multi-coloured bust of the president himself, created through 3D printing.

The presidential trip to Moravia also includes visits to other sites in Brno, such as the Museum of Romani Culture and the Moravian Jewish Museum, before President Pavel travels on to the wine-producing town of Valtice, where he will meet with students at the town’s secondary school of oenology and viticulture.
