Food banks collected 1,400 tonnes of aid worth CZK 130 million for flood relief
Food banks collected 1,400 tonnes of aid worth CZK 130 million for flood-affected areas, with 300,000 people involved, according to Aleš Slavíček, chairman of the Czech Federation of Food Banks. He praised the cooperation with emergency services, noting that firefighters transported 70 tonnes of aid by helicopter. Material aid collection began on 15 September, and within days, donors filled 30 trucks with supplies. Despite the swift response, conditions remain difficult, with many households still without gas and heat. The floods, which hit mid-September, primarily affected Moravia-Silesia and northern Olomouc, causing damage estimated at CZK 18 billion.
