Foreign Minister Lipavský to remain in government as non-party member

Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský will continue serving in the Czech government even after the Pirate Party exits the cabinet, Prime Minister Petr Fiala announced on Tuesday, adding that Lipavský's  leadership is seen as crucial for ensuring continuity in Czech diplomacy.

The leaders of the coalition's remaining three parties, Mayors and Independents, Christian Democrats and TOP 09, have expressed their support for Lipavský to stay on as an independent member of the government, Mr. Fiala said.

The prime minister also discussed this possibility with President Petr Pavel, who, according to Mr. Fiala, agrees that maintaining continuity in Czech diplomacy is the right course of action.
