Czech soprano Nada Šormova to get Thalia Lifetime Achievement Award
Czech soprano Nada Šormova is one of the well-known voices in the Czech opera world. In the course of a career spanning close to half a century she has appeared on leading stages at home and abroad.
Czech soprano Nada Šormova graduated from the Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in 1962 and honed her skills as a soloist at the Plzen Opera before reaching her professional zenith on the country’s leading opera stage.
She has graced the stage of the National Theatre in Prague since 1994 when she joined the country’s first ensemble as a soloist.
Talented, creative and hardworking she has excelled in a wide range of different roles, starring in Leoš Janáček's The Makropulos Case, The Cunning Little Vixen and Jenůfa, in Bedřich Smetana's operas Dalibor, The Kiss, The Bartered Bride, The Secret and The Devil's Wall, in Bohuslav Martinů's opera Mirandolina, in W. A. Mozart's opera The Marriage of Figaro, Tchaikovsky's opera Eugene Onegin, and in Giacomo Puccini's opera La Bohème, among others.
The Czech Actors' Association recently announced that Nada Šormova will receive a Thalia Lifetime Achievement Award in the opera category on October 5th.
