Prosecutor in massive fraud case wants main suspects remanded in custody
The state prosecutor in a case involving massive fraud and manipulation of public tenders across four Czech regions has asked for three of the 14 suspects arrested to be remanded in custody. According to the Chief Prosecutor’s Office the reasons for imposing custody are fears they would obstruct the investigation, influence witnesses and continue in their criminal activity. The request concerns Chomutov Mayor Marek Hrabáč and Libor Tačner, the former director of the Ústí Region Road Maintenance Administration. The third suspect has not been named. The district court in Chomutov is to decide on the matter on Thursday.
