Police investigating gas explosion near Brno as attempted murder

Police are investigating a gas explosion that took place near Brno on Tuesday as attempted murder, a spokesman for the South Moravian police announced on Wednesday. A man and a woman were seriously injured in the explosion and taken to hospital in critical condition. The spokesperson said that they had reason to believe that the crime was probably motivated by long-standing partnership disputes.

The propane-butane gas canister exploded in the driveway of a family home in the South Moravian village of Moravské Knínice on Tuesday morning. Police did not release any further information about what happened at the scene.
