Flood alert still in place in most parts of western Bohemia

Firefighters responded to dozens of calls on the night from Friday to Saturday due to heavy rain. In central Bohemia, 29 emergencies were reported in the course of the night. The firefighters were called mainly to drain water from flooded cellars and remove fallen trees.

Much of the western part of Czechia is currently being threatened by floods. The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute has declared the highest flood-warning level for part of the Plzeň region, namely the Mže and Radbuza Rivers, which could potentially burst their banks.

Heavy rain has also raised water levels in the Šumava Mountains in southern Bohemia. First-degree flood alert is now on place on the Ostružná and Křemelná Rivers.
